Make 2012 your
'Year of Exceptional Writing'

In 2012 I will be working one-on-one with a small number of writers, meeting each of them once a month for a tutorial, and between times reading their work and offering comment and guidance. Music has been taught this way for centuries, and it works for writing, too.

There is nothing easier in the world than to not write, so writers must be motivated and determined. They need to manage uncertainty, and learn not to be distracted by self-doubt and the doubt of others. This can be especially testing over the distance and difficult terrain of a novel, but memoir and short fiction, too, present challenges, never mind the black hole of the rejection slip. Having an experienced writer to walk with for a time can make all the difference.
