Make 2013 your
'Year of Exceptional Writing'

In 2013, for the second year running, I will be working one-on-one with a small number of writers. Once a month I will meet each of them for a tutorial, and between times read their work and offer feedback and guidance. Music has been taught this way for centuries, and it works for writing, too.

There is nothing easier in the world than to not write, so writers must be motivated and determined. They need to manage uncertainty, and learn not to be distracted by self-doubt and the doubt of others. This can be especially testing over the distance and difficult terrain of a novel, but memoir and short fiction, too, present challenges, never mind the black hole of the rejection slip. Having an experienced writer to walk with for a time can make all the difference.

While most of the writers I have been working with are Adelaide-based, for those living further away who may be interested, a combination of email and Skype works well.
